課程概述

This course will deal with the statistical techniques for factor analysis and structural equation modeling. Both factor analysis (FA) and structural equation model (SEM) are multivariate statistical techniques to analyze association among multiple measures through latent variables (or constructs, factors).

Learning Objectives
1.Understand the concepts of latent, or unobservable, variables in social science research.
2.Understand fundamental concepts and basic statistical theories of structural equation modeling (SEM).
3.Understand the application, assumptions, strengths, and limitations of SEM.
4.Present research questions and hypotheses with conceptual and analytical model.
5.Link research process through the development of conceptual model.
6.Link substantive theories with empirical data.
7.Learn the correct specification of structural equation model for model evaluation and estimation.
8.Obtain hand-on experience conducting analyses using EQS and SAS/CALIS programs.
9.Develop efficient SEM programming skills.
10.Adequately present and interpret the results of SEM.
11.Conduct independently statistical analyses.
12.Develop manuscripts using structural equation modeling technique 
課程要求
Homework assignments and term paper must be turned in on the due dates. Late assignments will require approval from the instructor and points will be deducted.
